Know What Your Insurance Covers Before Severe Storms Strike

Maryland Insurance Administration News Release (06/12/13)

With National Weather Service forecasters predicting the potential for severe weather the next several days in Maryland, including thunderstorms, damaging winds, large hail, tornadoes and flash flooding, the Maryland Insurance Administration urges residents to prepare now. Before severe weather strikes you should prepare an inventory of your home. Whenever possible, take photos or videos of your personal property to support any claim you may need to file later, and smartphone users can download a free home inventory application, myHOME, from the Insurance Administration’s Web site. Keep this inventory, as well as a copy of your insurance policy and the contact information for your insurance company or agent in a safe place such as a safe deposit box, a fire and waterproof safe.
